ABOUT US

Thornfield Heritage Farm began in 1997 as a simple operation on a small farm north of Hillsborough. What started as a hobby over sixteen years ago developed into Thornfield Poultry first, and then into what is now Thornfield Heritage Farm.  We have raised rabbits, Black Copper Marans chickens, as well as Silver Appleyard ducks, African Dewlap Geese, and Cotton Patch geese.  These specific waterfowl are listed as Endangered Breeds by the Livestock Conservancy.  We have added kunekune pigs, Nigerian Dwarf goats (females only, so no stinky smell), Valais sheep, and giant breeds of rabbits.  And of course, we have lots of Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs to look after them all.  They are a fabulous breed, wonderful with people, and great at protecting our critters.

All of our animals are very sweet and love to be petted.   It is quite an experience to relax in our orchard and watch the bunnies frolick and play.  There is a lot to see and experience at Thornfield Heritage Farm.  Come visit and experience the farm for yourself.  The peace and quiet here is especially attractive to those who have trouble escaping the grind of daily life.

In 2026, we have expanded by adding a new spacious, covered pavilion for hosting a variety of events, including music festivals, birthday parties, weddings, corporate events, workshops,  family reunions, and school field trips!  The pavilion also includes bathroom facilities and a small store for refreshments and farm t-shirts with our delightful logo featuring many of our lovable creatures.

The event pavilion is adjacent to a large fenced-in play set area for children 10 and under.  In May, we will begin hosting musicians on select Saturday afternoons from  2:00 to 5:00 p.m..  Tickets may be purchased using a link near the bottom of the Home Page. Tickets are $20 for age 16 to 64, $15 for Seniors, 65+, $15 for age 4 to 15, and free for children 3 and under.
